A tendência que tem se mostrado até aqui é que o eleitor de Ivan Júnior se mostra fiel a ele, mas se divide sobre seguir a escolha para presidente do ex-prefeito. Ivan Júnior não tem pedido de forma explícita voto para Bolsonaro, mas se aproximou dos bolsonaristas e defende ações do governo federal. Do outro lado, George Soares assume o voto em Lula em atos de campanha e diferente da divisão no bloco de Ivan, a maioria do grupo político do deputado manifesta publicamente seguir a indicação dele para o petista.
Em 2018 na cidade do Assú, o então candidato de Lula, Fernando Haddad obteve 77,18% dos votos válidos no segundo turno, enquanto Bolsonaro, chegou a 22,82%.
